With the Cleveland Guardians preparing for Game 5 against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night, the team is looking to win its third straight game and advance to the ALCS to face the Tampa Bay Rays. As the Guardians look to excel in a do-or-die game against the White Sox, this former World Series hero for the team would give his thoughts on Game 5.

Rajai Davis played with the team, then called the Cleveland Indians before the name change, in 2016, as fans remember his game-tying two-run home run off Chicago Cubs’ Aroldis Chapman in the eighth inning in that year’s World Series. While Cleveland didn’t end up winning that game and the World Series, it’s a moment that many fans will remember for a long time, as he would claim that the “momentum right now is in the corner” of the Guardians.

“I believe that the momentum right now is in the corner of the Cleveland Guardians, and not just because I am a little biased, but because of what I see,” Davis said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. “What I see is a team that’s coming together. They had their backs against the wall. They still have their backs against the wall, and they fight, and they scratch, and they’re not giving up, right? And they got the right guys feeling good, playing good at the right time, you know.”

Rajai Davis continues on the Guardians’ Game 5 chances

With Guardians players like Jose Ramirez impressing in the ALDS against the White Sox, it remains to be seen if they can have the same energy in Game 5, as Davis ponders the same.

“And it’s going to come down to execution. Are they going to execute their pitches? Are they going to execute when the guy gets on and then get them over, get them in? You know, the guys are going to make mistakes,” Davis continued. “You know who’s going to come up big? But I have an edge going to the Cleveland Guardians tonight.”

At any rate, it’ll all be revealed in Saturday’s Game 5 between Cleveland and Chicago.
