Packers' new uniforms: Green Bay's 'Rivalries' alternates inspired by team's stock
· Yahoo Sports
If you’re emotionally invested in the Green Bay Packers, then you are probably disappointed in the ROI this season ... if maybe feeling fairly fortunate that the scuffling Pack currently sit at. 500 heading into their Week 5 meeting with the archrival Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
But if you’re literally invested, such as it is, as one of the roughly half-million stockholders in the NFL’s only publicly owned team that operates as a nonprofit corporation, then you should get a kick out of the team’s new “Rivalries” uniforms, which will make their debut Sunday and are something of a love letter to the organization's supporters and its past – and probably represent the slickest alternate look the normally conservatively clad Pack have ever worn.

What's new about the Packers' 'Rivalries' uniforms?
The color palette has been slightly altered with “desaturated vintage green” jerseys and “alabaster” pants and helmets trimmed with the team’s familiar gold. The jersey numbers have what the team calls “an engraved treatment” meant to evoke “intricate lettering on paper currency, reflective of the financial contributions from the fans that helped sustain the franchise over the years.” The alabaster – call it off white – elements are meant to be “reminiscent of aged paper color of historic Packers stock certificates.” Delicate striping throughout the uniform and on the helmets is an additional detail pulled from the bordering pattern on the stock certificates.
The Packers' former “GB” logo, which looks a bit like Notre Dame’s interlocking N and D, is a callback to the one legendary coach Vince Lombardi used to wear on his practice hats and is now being featured on the upper left chest area of the jersey and the back of the helmet.
“Making History since 1919” is embroidered inside the collar as a nod to the year in which the franchise was founded, which predates the NFL by one year.

What are NFL 'Rivalries' uniforms by Nike?
Think of them as the football version of the sports apparel company’s NBA "City Edition" uniforms or Major League Baseball’s "City Connect" jerseys. Nike has strived to create something that further strengthens NFL teams’ bonds to their unique civic environments. And, as “rivalries” would suggest, all of them will be worn in intra-divisional matchups.
“Rivalries uniforms will celebrate storied local traditions and unite fan communities with designs unique to select cities and teams,” Nike announced during the program’s launch in 2025.
"The designs are rooted extensively in the legacies and inspirations true to each team, serving as authentic, competitive expressions of community pride while giving athletes and fans an opportunity to connect like never before."
Which NFL teams have 'Rivalries' uniforms?
Eventually all of them will. This year, AFC South and NFC North squads are joining the AFC East and NFC West teams that kicked off the initiative last year. Every team that has a “Rivalries” uni is scheduled to wear it once this season. The other four divisions will be added to the rotation over the next two seasons, and the “Rivalries” option then becomes part of a team’s closet for the following three years.
