Kentucky Football stock report after LSU win
· Yahoo Sports
The BBN is still celebrating as the Kentucky Wildcats walked it off against the No. 10 LSU Tigers in overtime on Saturday night. Adding a second top-10 win to the resume through six weeks is impressive, and only cements the fact that UK can be competitive in the new era of college athletics.
With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at some stock risers and two stock fallers for Will Stein’s program heading into week seven and a trip to Norman and a date with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Riser: Will Stein
It is hard for Stein’s stock to rise higher than it already has, but it took another step forward on Saturday. The Cats look like a program that is legit and here to stay. Add that in with Oregon struggling mightily this season, and the leader of this UK football program is looking like a face of the sport.
Can he keep it up? That is yet to be seen, but at the moment there is not a hotter name in college football coaching than Will Stein.
Riser: Kenny Minchey
Coming into the year, it was hard to know what Kentucky got in Kenny Minchey. Through the first few weeks, it looked like a toss-up on how this season would go for QB1. Luckily, he responded and has become one of the most steady quarterbacks in the country.
Minchey is not on superstar status, but he has turned into an incredible game-manager. Look at the last two weeks; he changed protection to pick up the free blitzer in the South Carolina win and then spotted an empty mid-field in the LSU win Saturday night. Add that in with not turning the ball over, and Minchey continues to trend upwards.
Riser: Wide receiver play
Against LSU, the wideouts had to step up and make some plays as the run game stalled out in the second half. Especially some new faces, including JaKayden Ferguson, highlighted the passing game on Saturday night at Kroger Field.
Pair that with the continued production from Kenny Darby, DJ Miller, and Nic Anderson, and a room that seemed to not have many answers has turned into one that continues to produce at a high level.
Faller: injury bug
After a fairly clean start to the season in regards to injuries, they are starting to pile up now. Depth has always been a question for the Cats in Stein’s first season, and they have shown up to this point. However, to many more bites from the injury bug could take a great season to this point off the tracks immediately.
A few weeks away from a bye week, let’s hope the next few games can go smoothly and give this roster a much-needed rest as we head into a very important November.
