Spencer Shrader has given the Indianapolis Colts a dependable scoring option, even when their offense stalls.

The kicker is 16-for-16 on field goals this season, including six makes from 50-plus yards. Special teams coordinator Brian Mason put forth his take on Tuesday, per The Athletic’s James Boyd.

“(Spencer) Shrader is kicking at a really high level,” Mason said.

His latest performance reinforced that point.

Shrader made all five field-goal attempts in Sunday’s 34-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, connecting from 57 and 56 yards. His five makes tied the franchise’s single-game record, and he accounted for 16 of Indianapolis’ 22 points.

That production follows a summer in which Shrader had to earn his job again.

Returning from a major knee injury that ended his 2025 season, Shrader beat out Blake Grupe (now a Los Angeles Ram) during the preseason. He made all five preseason field-goal attempts, including kicks from 60 and 61 yards.

Shrader has also come through with a game on the line this season. His 53-yard field goal with 16 seconds remaining lifted the Colts to a 19-17 victory over the Houston Texans in Week 3.

Indianapolis needs more drives to finish in the end zone. But when those possessions fall short, Shrader’s accuracy and range have helped the Colts keep points flowing.
