The Los Angeles Dodgers are sticking with Shohei Ohtani despite his slump. On Tuesday while speaking to reporters, manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Ohtani will be in the Game 3 lineup. Some have wondered if Ohtani’s previous injury concerns are impacting his performance in the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Shohei told reporters on Tuesday that any lingering injury issues are not the reason for his struggles at the plate.

“I take full responsibility,” Ohtani said via interpreter, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. “… The symptoms shouldn’t be the reason I can’t hit.”

He also reportedly said his injury concerns have “subdued” in recent action.

The Brewers have pitched well against Ohtani to begin the NLCS. Ohtani is capable of breaking out at any moment, however. The Brewers know they still need to be careful while pitching to him.

Ohtani is seemingly dealing with some kind of injury, though. Roberts revealed what he believes the superstar could be batting, via Dodgers Nation.

“I have a sense. It’s the knee, I don’t know the diagnosis with the knee,” Roberts said. “It’s the bicep, I don’t know the diagnosis.”

Multiple injury concerns would certainly explain his struggles. Ohtani is far too talented to hit just .150 across six games played this postseason. Nevertheless, Shohei is not going to blame his slump on the injuries.

Regardless of the reason for his underperformance, the Dodgers need Shohei Ohtani to figure things out at the plate soon. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 PM ET as Milwaukee leads the NLCS 2-0.
