Former Purdue star Trey Kaufman-Renn, the No. 59 overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft, has signed with Kansas, the school announced on Monday, Oct. 19.

Kaufman-Renn is currently eligible for a sixth season of college basketball through a temporary restraining order he was granted in September. The temporary restraining order remains in effect until a preliminary injunction hearing.

If eligible, Kaufman-Renn is one of the best returning forwards in college basketball. He averaged 14.2 points with 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last season for the Boilermakers after averaging 20.1 points with 6.5 rebounds per game in 2024-25.

Kaufman-Renn is replacing freshman Grant Mordini on the Jayhawks' roster after Mordini suffered a season-ending patellar tendon injury.

"Trey Kaufman-Renn, who had a tremendous career at Purdue, has enrolled in classes, and is practicing with us as of Sunday," Kansas coach Bill Self said in the announcement. "He reached the national championship game, the Elite Eight and the Sweet 16 at Purdue and has been extremely well-drilled and well-coached. Even though it's late in the process, because of his basketball IQ, we think his transition will be quicker than most put in the same circumstance."

Kaufman-Renn redshirted as a freshman during the 2021-22 season after suffering an injury before the season. He played 147 games in four seasons after his redshirt.

The 6-foot-9 forward is one of three Kansas players currently eligible this season due to court order, joining former Kansas guards Tre White and Melvin Council Jr., starters from last season's team.
