The official announcement that Jay-Z would be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2027 was made on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. In a statement (via Variety), Goodell revealed that when Roc Nation and the NFL began partnering for the Halftime Shows, they made the “request” that Jay-Z eventually perform it. 2027 looks like the time to make it happen.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said. “I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity, and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Jay-Z’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was leaked before the official announcement
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsAlmost a week before the official announcement was made, news that Jay-Z was selecting himself to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2027 made its way online.
There were other options, including Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. The reports said that Jay-Z’s show “has long felt inevitable.” Sources considered his show “more compelling than Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.”
Jay-Z just performed at the site of Super Bowl 61, SoFi Stadium, over the weekend. He performed two shows on Oct. 23 and 24 to close out his ongoing tour.
The tour previously kicked off with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York City. He then brought it to London, England, and Saint-Denis, France. The tour concluded with two shows at SoFi Stadium.
Super Bowl 61 will be played on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) in 2027. Fans can watch it on ABC, ESPN, Disney+, and NFL+. Troy Aikman and Joe Buck will call the game on the traditional broadcasts. Peyton and Eli Manning will also host a ManningCast live from California.
