Paul Pierce reveals troubling financial situation after losing latest gig
· Yahoo Sports
Paul Pierce built a Hall of Fame NBA career over 19 seasons, highlighted by an NBA championship and Finals MVP award with the Boston Celtics in 2008. Since retiring, he carved out a second career in television, becoming a familiar voice in sports media.
That career took a hit recently, and new court documents filed in his ongoing child-support case are now shedding light on how much it has affected his finances. The filings, obtained by TMZ, reveal just how far Pierce’s monthly income has fallen, and why he says he can no longer keep up with his obligations.

Pierce said his last check from the network came in August.
His average monthly income was $119,000, he said, and it has since dropped to zero. He reported earning around $23,000 last month from his partnership interests in other business ventures.
Pierce pays roughly $28,000 in child support and another $20,000 in spousal support each month, but claims he has only $300,000 in the bank and $3 million in property. His attorney said in the filing that Pierce was “drowning financially” and would have “great difficulty” keeping up with his obligations.
Why Pierce is fighting ex-wife Princess Santiago’s legal fee request
The disclosures come as Pierce asks the court to deny a request from his ex-wife, Princess Santiago, for $40,000 in legal fees and another $10,000 for a forensic accountant. Santiago has claimed Pierce was not transparent about his finances and wants an expert to review his records.
Pierce said he spends about $48,000 a month on bills, including $8,000 in childcare, $5,000 in groceries, $7,000 eating out, $3,200 in utilities and $3,500 on entertainment.
