The Nevada Wolf Pack don’t roll with a traditional starting quarterback but they might hand the keys of their offense to a former UCLA Bruin to face his former team on Saturday when Nevada takes on No. 7 UCLA.

Former UCLA Bruin Luke Duncan is ready to battle his former team just a season after being a part of the team. Duncan was with the Bruins from 2023-2025 before leaving Westwood for a fresh start with Nevada.
Duncan put up 235 yards, two touchdowns with no interceptions while throwing 21 of his 34 passes as a Bruin in 2025, earning one start, a game which the Bruins lost on the road against Ohio State.
Duncan hasn’t been Nevada’s full-time starter but he has thrown for 229 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions over his first four appearances with Nevada. UCLA defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler spoke about Duncan during his media availability earlier this week.
“I mean he’s a good player. He wouldn’t have been recruited here if he wasn’t a good player,” Hitschler said. “Strong arm. Does a really good job of staying patient in his reads and throwing the ball aggressively on the hashes and I think he creates challenges.”Duncan wasn’t recruited or coached by UCLA’s current coaching staff but he’ll enjoy a return to the Rose Bowl with a chance to give the Bruins their first loss of the season. Hitschler has his defense ready for whatever Nevada's offense throws at them.
“If it’s him, we got to do a really good job of playing different coverages and making him react post-snap,” Hitschler said, admitting the Nevada QB situation is an unknown. “You have three slightly different plans and the guys, to their credit, have really taken to the work of understanding that.”
