Oregon failed to capitalize on its 426 yards of total offense in a 21-10 loss versus Illinois, which essentially ended the program’s College Football Playoff chase, and then it was announced that starting quarterback Dante Moore would miss the remainder of the campaign. The Ducks did not wallow in self-pity, however. They cleaned up their operation and pulled off a thrilling 34-26 comeback win versus No. 20 Northwestern. The backup QB enjoyed a career performance.

Dylan Raiola, a former five-star Nebraska recruit, completed 22-of-31 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns in front of a grateful Eugene crowd. Following all his past struggles, the junior signal-caller looked comfortable leading the Ducks’ offense. This stellar showing did not come together right away, though.
Down 20-6 late in the first half, Raiola linked up with Dakorien Moore for a momentum-swinging 10-yard touchdown. The sophomore wide receiver contributed far more than just one play, however. He notched seven receptions for 128 yards and two scores, with the last one giving Oregon an eight-point fourth-quarter lead that it never surrendered.

One offensive explosion does not put to rest all the questions surrounding this offense, but dropping 34 points against a Wildcats defense that was only allowing 16.6 per game is certainly worthy of praise.
Ducks head coach Dan Lanning can only hope that this Big Ten conquest foretells a red-hot end to the campaign for Dylan Raiola, Dakorien Moore and the entire Oregon football team. Yes, it is Playoff or bust for this school, but after a brutal couple of months, a successful November could help the team regain some pride.
A road game versus Ohio State is up next, so there is no time to bask in this latest triumph.
