The Los Angeles Rams could soon get a couple of big stars back in action.
Fresh off a win that evened their season record to 4-4, head coach Sean McVay told reporters that pass rusher Myles Garrett will return to practice this week, and injured tight end Terrance Ferguson might be back this week as well.
When could Myles Garrett play again?
After playing only in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, Garrett has been sidelined by knee surgery and the subsequent recovery.
There was some belief that he could have returned to practice last week, but it seems the Rams are being cautious with him.
Now that he can practice this week, he’ll have three weeks to either show that he’s ready to be activated off of injured reserve or go back to IR, as will Ferguson if and when he’s ready.

McVay said it was “a real positive” development for Garrett.
“Myles will practice. We’ll start his clock,” McVay told reporters. “Good chance that we’ll start Terrance’s clock as well. Have not made a definitive. Myles is a yes for sure. Then Terrance is looking more likely than not that we will but want to see how he’s feeling. Both of those guys, it looks like we will start their clocks.”
Once Garrett is healthy and returns to his All-Pro level of play, he and defensive lineman Aaron Donald are expected to be a wrecking crew for opposing offenses, but don’t downplay what Ferguson can bring to the Rams as well.
Could the Rams make a trade at the deadline?
With star wide receiver Davante Adams on injured reserve and tight end Colby Parkinson sidelined with an injury, the Rams need pass catchers to step up alongside star wideout Puka Nacua.
Parkinson is “making really good progress” in his recovery, though, and with so much talent nearing a return to the field, McVay seemed to downplay the team’s chances of needing to make a big trade at the deadline.
“I would never rule anything out, but it would have to make sense,” McVay said. “There are sometimes you have to really ask yourself what kind of resources are you willing to give up? Where do you really have needs? I think at a lot of the spots that we would probably identify where there are maybe some things we can improve upon, it’s more of we’re getting guys back that we think can make big impacts that are on our roster that aren’t necessarily eliminated for the rest of the season.”
Given the Rams’ injury luck finally turning around and the recent string of wins, it seems LA might be rounding into shape for the second half of the season.
Do you think the Rams can still compete for a title?
