Steelers land franchise QB in new mock draft update
· Yahoo Sports
The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached the midway point of the NFL season as well as their bye week so it's a great time to put together a full five-round mock draft simulation for the 2027 NFL Draft. The Steelers have some fairly obvious roster needs to fill at the end of the season and this new mock draft checks several of those boxes.

First round - Quarterback CJ Carr - Notre Dame
If an elite wide receiver had fallen to No. 23, he would have been the pick but an early run leaves the Steelers with CJ Carr, who has franchise quarterback potential thanks to his all-around skill set and high football IQ.
Second round - Defensive line - Tavion Gadson - Kentucky
Defensive line might not be the top need but he represented the best player available by a significant margin, so a strength of the team gets even better with a great value choice.
Third round - Wide receiver - Amare Thomas - Houston
Thomas is a legit No. 1 receiver who can win at all three levels thanks to his quickness and route running. He's a man-beater, which is what the Steelers need desperately and he is deadly after the catch.
Third round - Safety Xavier Scott - Illinois
The future is set with Robert Spears-Jennings at one safety spot and we love Xavier Scott as the ballhawk to pair up with him in the secondary.
Fifth round - Cornerback Elijah Green - Tulsa
The Steelers have some excellent players at cornerback, but guys like Jalen Ramsey and Jamel Dean aren't getting any younger. Elijah Green is similar to Daylen Everett in that he's a physical marvel who flashes elite coverage but needs to be more consistent. Great value here.
