49ers have lost nearly $27 million in player value to injuries in 2026

The San Francisco 49ers haven't lost as much player value to injuries as some of the NFL's most battered teams, but they've been among the league's most affected clubs when it comes to keeping their starters on the field.

According to Stick to the Model's injury tracker through Week 8, the 49ers have lost $26.9 million in player value due to injuries, the seventh-highest total in the NFL. That figure puts them behind six teams, including the Rams, who rank third at $37 million.

However, San Francisco ranks fifth in the NFL in games missed by starters due to injury or illness, with 41. Only the Patriots, Panthers, Chargers and Packers have had more starter absences.

The 49ers' seventh-place ranking in value lost might not look particularly alarming compared to the rest of the league, but their fifth-place ranking in starter games missed tells a different story. San Francisco has been able to withstand a significant amount of personnel turnover, even as injuries have forced it to play without several important pieces.

Nick Bosa and Mike Evans account for the 49ers' biggest individual losses in player value, according to Stick to the Model. Bosa's calf injury has kept the star pass rusher out of the lineup for the past five games, while Evans has also missed time dealing with injuries and is not expected to play in Week 9 with Achilles tendinitis.

The list of significant absences extends well beyond those two players. Deebo Samuel has also missed time with a hamstring injury, as well as several other receivers and defensive linemen. San Francisco has had to navigate those absences while trying to keep its roster competitive. Luckily, they remain 6-1 heading into Week 9.
