The Chicago Bears made the biggest splash of the 2026 NFL trade deadline season, acquiring Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans before their Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

That addition immediately panned out, and now the Bears have more reason to go out and add more help to this team for a Super Bowl push. But one of their top needs happens to be the same area that their NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions, will look to add.

As Jonathan Jones of The Athletic reports, the Bears and Lions "would each love to add" to their cornerback room this season, which could potentially spark a bidding war for the NFC North rivals.

"Detroit and Chicago would each love to add a cornerback if the price is right," Jones reports. "I would suspect teams will call the Denver Broncos, who have some depth at that spot."

There are other teams besides the Denver Broncos that the Bears and Lions might be calling for cornerback help, but it might turn into a bidding war if they're in pursuit of the same player.

Another player to keep a close eye on for both teams is former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion and current Philadelphia Eagles rental cornerback, Tariq Woolen.

He's likely available, and at a mid-round pick price tag. It's a reasonable price to pay for a CB who has some very high highs. Woolen would be a great addition to either secondary.

But with both teams in pursuit of cornerback help, things could turn into a bidding war if both clubs are looking to get the same cornerback.

Mike Sainristil of the Washington Commanders, Alontae Taylor of the Tennessee Titans, Nahshon Wright of the Chicago Bears, Charvarius Ward of the Indianapolis Colts, and Donte Jackson of the Los Angeles Chargers are some other notable trade candidates.

There should be plenty of options for both teams to land some CB help, but with teams like the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and maybe even the Los Angeles Rams eyeing help at the position, it might be a very competitive trade market.

The Bears and Lions first play one another this season on Thanksgiving, but two weeks before that matchup, they might get into a bidding war over a top cornerback option, with both teams interested in help at the position this season.
