The Kansas City Chiefs are in the market for help at a few different positions as the 2026 NFL trade deadline nears. But wide receiver is their obvious top need.
After losing Tyquan Thornton for the season, it's painfully obvious that this team needs WR help. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy aren't good enough. That's why the Chiefs have been linked to so many wide receivers this season.
But will they land a WR in a trade by Tuesday's deadline? NFL insider Jonathan Jones of The Athletic revealed that he would be "floored" if the Chiefs don't find a way to upgrade their WR room, which is a good sign for Chiefs fans.
NFL insider would be 'floored' if Chiefs don't trade for a WR
"The Chiefs continue to search for wide receiver help," Jones reports. "... I will be floored if they don't have someone by Tuesday evening."
While Jones doesn't note what kind of wide receiver upgrade or addition the Chiefs are likely to make, he does believe a move of some kind is coming.
Kansas City needs WR help, and some very intriguing top-tier options might actually be available for trade that would be huge boosts for this Chiefs offense.
Brian Thomas Jr. is one name to watch, as the Jacksonville Jaguars might move the former first-round pick. George Pickens from the Dallas Cowboys is another, as he might be dealt as well.

Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts might be the most realistic option for the Chiefs that would make real headlines. He's much more likely to be traded than Pickens or Thomas.
A cheaper option for the Chiefs could be Hollywood Brown, currently with the Philadelphia Eagles. There are plenty of other depth options worth keeping tabs on as well.
The Chiefs seem likely to add at least something to their wide receiver room by the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday evening.
Whether it's a star player or not remains to be seen, but it looks likely Patrick Mahomes will have a new target by Week 10.
