On Saturday, four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal brought the gesture back at LSU, and Reese wasn’t exactly willing to let him get away with it. Their playful exchange quickly caught the attention of the basketball world, which buzzed with comments about the moment.

Reese and O’Neal were among the notable faces at LSU’s homecoming as the Tigers hosted Alabama at Tiger Stadium. The former LSU basketball stars joined head coach Lane Kiffin for the traditional Tiger Walk alongside Kevin Costner, Paul Skenes, and Livvy Dunne.

The Hall of Famer also got a chance to have some fun with his longtime mentee.

While the three-time WNBA All-Star was recording him on the sidelines, she asked O’Neal to say something. Instead, he performed the “too small” celebration right in front of her.

The former LSU standout responded with a repeated “it’s okay, it’s okay” before pushing her camera toward the former Los Angeles Lakers center as if she were taking a swing at him. O’Neal simply walked away.

Fliff shared the exchange, writing, “Shaq gave Angel Reese the ‘too small’ celebration and she took it personally.”

One fan joked, “She’s not going to be able to ‘rebound’ from that, is she?”

Political and sports commentator Andy Froemel remarked, “Shaq is 7 feet tall. He has every right to hit Angel Reese with the too small.”

Sports media personality Dov Kleiman added, “Wild: Shaq ROASTED Angel Reese with her ‘Too Small’ celly at today’s LSU-Alabama game. Angel Reese was [expletive].”

Hater Report posted, “This is FRYING ME lmao. Look at Angel Reese’s reaction when Shaq hit her with the ‘too small’ TEARS.” The post came with two laughing emojis.

Austin Unfiltered flipped the joke around, quipping, “Shaq forgot he’s not bùllying people in the paint anymore.”

And one hoops fan needed just one word: “trolllll.”

The joke traces back to Reese’s celebration against the Golden State Valkyries in Game 3 of the 2026 WNBA Finals.

The 2026 All-WNBA Second Team selection had 21 points and 12 rebounds in Atlanta’s 97-71 win, which gave the Dream a 2-1 series lead. Golden State recovered to win the championship in seven games.

The celebration resurfaced during Game 7, when Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg was seen courtside directing the same gesture at Reese. The jokes continued during the Valkyries’ championship parade, where former Warriors big man Festus Ezeli displayed a shirt featuring her celebration.

O’Neal has now joined the list of people giving Reese a hard time over the gesture. Their exchange, however, appeared to be friendly banter between two LSU basketball icons.
