· Yahoo Sports
This is the live blog for Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Johnny Walker, the heavyweight main event for Saturday’s UFC Vegas 124 card at the UFC Meta APEX.
Visit newsbetsport.bond for more information.
Originally, this main event was supposed to be a welterweight showcase fight between top contenders Gabriel Bonfim and Sean Brady, but after Brady was forced out with a serious staph infection, that bout was scrapped, and the UFC scrambled to put together a short-notice heavyweight headliner.
Cortes-Acosta enters the bout on a two-fight losing streak, dropping a disappointing decision to Curtis Blaydes in September, while Walker made his heavyweight debut just last month, picking up a quick knockout win over Mick Parkin at UFC 332. Now these two heavy hitters face off to get in the mix at the top of the division.

Preamble
We’ve had an commentator change! Fitzgerald was too sick to continue, so the UFC had to go to the emergency goalie like in hockey. Never seen that before.
Pre Fight
Walker does look like a real heavyweight. He’s always been a huge light heavyweight, and while it doesn’t seem like he’s added muscle, the weight class just doesn’t seem too big for him.
WCA out and he is brimming with confidence.
Walker is 2 inches taller and has a 4-inch reach advantage, but he’s a +185 underdog to WCA, who is -225.
Buffer gets things going and the APEX crowd tries its best.
The two men meet in the middle for final instructions and touch gloves. Go time!
