Donald Trump calls for MAGA boycott of 'dried up prune' Bruce Springsteen

In the wake of Bruce Springsteen lashing out at Donald Trump on the opening night of his Land of Hopes and Dreams Tour, the U.S. president is firing back at the iconic rocker in a scathing social media post.

“Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon, has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“The guy is a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election, including the popular vote, all Seven Swing States, and 86% of the Counties across America.”

Trump, 79, then accused his predecessor Joe Biden of doing nothing to jumpstart the economy and urged his Make America Great Again fanbase to stay away from Springsteen’s latest concert outing.

“Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the ‘hottest’ Country, by far, anywhere in the World. MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK!!!” Trump wrote.

Long feud between Trump, Springsteen

Springsteen, 76, has been a frequent critic of Trump’s throughout his presidency. But he told the Minnesota Star Tribune that this latest tour is “going to be political and very topical about what’s going on in the country.”

The 20-time Grammy winner also said he wasn’t losing sleep over the prospect that some of his fans who voted for Trump have lost interest in his music.

“I don’t worry about it,” he said. “My job is very simple: I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say and then people get to say what they want to say about it. Those are the rules of my game. That’s fine with me. I don’t worry about if you’re going to lose this part of your audience. I’ve always had a feeling about the position we play culturally, and I’m still deeply committed to that idea of the band. The blowback is just part of it. I’m ready for all that.”

When Springsteen toured Europe last summer, he said America was being led by a “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who supported Trump’s Democratic rival Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, said the president has “no concern or idea of what it means to be deeply American.”

The Born in the U.S.A. singer also said that most of Trump’s colleagues have failed to shield Americans “from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government.”

After Springsteen’s lengthy critique, Trump fired back in a Truth Social post in which he called the rocker “ a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country.”

“Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)? This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!” Trump added.

Springsteen had previously spoken out against Trump, calling his first presidency a  “f***ing nightmare” and  telling  The Atlantic  in 2020 that the then-president was “a  threat to our democracy.”

In a 2018 interview with   Esquire , Springsteen said Trump was “ deeply damaged at his core.” In a 2016 chat with Rolling Stone, Springsteen called Trump a “moron.”

And before Trump became president the first time, Springsteen said he was “ afraid of his lasting effect on the country” when he spoke with New Yorker editor David Remnick back in 2016.

“When he was just a big, sort of bloviating New York billionaire, he could be highly entertaining, and funny,” Springsteen admitted. “But he’s not funny as a presidential candidate.”

What Springsteen said at tour opener

As he kicked off his Land of Hope and Dreams outing in Minneapolis this week, Springsteen told the crowd inside the Target Center that the “tour that was not planned,” but was put together because the “White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world.”

“To many, we are no longer looked upon as an often imperfect but strong defender of democracy standing for the global good,” he said, according to a review published by Variety . “We are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are now, to many, America the reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation. That is this administration’s and this president’s legacy. This is happening now.”

As “working Americans struggle,” Springsteen said Trump and his family “enrich themselves by billions of dollars trading on the people’s office in corruption unmatched in American history.”

“Our museums are being told to whitewash American history of any unpleasant or inconvenient facts, like the full history of the brutality of slavery. You want to talk about snowflakes? We have a president who can’t handle the truth,” he said.
