All signs point to Bears QB Caleb Williams as Madden 27 cover athlete

Caleb Williams has already accomplished things that no other Chicago Bears quarterback has ever done, including holding the single season passing record in just his second season. Now, he's breaking another barrier as the reported Madden 27 cover athlete.

The Madden 27 cover appears to have leaked, and it features Williams as the star in his signature "Iceman" pose as snow falls around him. It's a fire cover -- oh, should we say, icy cover.

The Madden 27 cover leaked along with the College Football 27 cover from EA Sports, and both covers were featured on the XBOX website before shortly being taken down. But Shane L. Marsaw was able to snag a screenshot of both covers before it was removed from the site.

It's no surprise that Williams would be the Madden 27 cover athlete after his breakout season in 2025, where he emerged as one of the league's most clutch quarterbacks leading an NFL record seven fourth-quarter comebacks, including a wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers. Williams also set the franchise single-season passing record (3,942 yards) and fell just shy of becoming the Bears' first 4,000-yard passer.

The crazy thing is that Williams still isn't close to his ceiling as a quarterback, especially working with one of the NFL's brightest offensive minds in head coach Ben Johnson. Williams still needs to improve his completion percentage and perfect his short passing game, but there's no denying he has the potential to be one of the NFL's best.
