Summary: For those of us who were here yesterday reading about Payton Cook (thanks for coming back, y’all), the synopsis on Williams could be very similar. Highly touted athlete/prospect with major interest from high major programs (Ole Miss, FSU, Notre Dame) who chose the Cards to play for Brohm and Coach Branch because of their ability to develop players for the next level.

Williams was another early enrollee who suited up in January and found playing time at the ready with some injuries in the wideout room. The former two way player has spent this semester with full focus on developing at wideout and trying to digest the Brohm playbook as quickly as possible. Williams has a bit of height, but is another deep ball threat for Kienholz and the QBs with good speed and a great ability to go up and find the ball, something they worked on during the spring. Similar to Cook yesterday, I think Williams could be in the mix early and then the staff will decide if they pull the trigger and use him this year, or save him for future seasons. As the young folks used to say….Go, DJ…that’s my DJ.
