How Barcelona will benefit from Real Madrid’s deal for Marc Cucurella

La Liga champions Barcelona are in line for a financial ‘pinch’ courtesy of arch rivals Real Madrid’s signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.

This comes owing to the defender’s time spent developing in Catalunya’s capital early in his career.
Cucurella is of course fresh off sealing an altogether high-profile return to his home country of Spain on Monday. After Real Madrid agreed to fork over an initial €55 million sum to their Stamford Bridge counterparts, the latter green-lighted the 27-year-old’s immediate departure for the Bernabéu.
As alluded to above, though, Chelsea are not the only ones in line to benefit financially from Cucurella’s Blancos switch.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, so too are those in the boardroom at none other than Barcelona:
‘Cucurella spent time in Barcelona’s youth academy from ages 14 to 20, meaning the club (Real Madrid) must now pay a sum for his training rights.’
Based on FIFA’s ‘Solidarity Mechanism’, the Blaugrana are entitled to around €1.35 million of the fee for the left-back’s transfer.
