Confirmed: Barcelona urge La Liga, RFEF, and CTA to punish Real Madrid president Perez

In those letters, the Blaugrana have urged the respective organisations to take action against Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over the controversial statements he had made during a press conference and a subsequent interview in May.

During those media appearances, Perez bashed Barcelona and claimed that they had ‘stolen’ several La Liga titles from them thanks to the payments they made to Negreira.

Barcelona statement

Barcelona, who had already launched legal action against Perez, have now called on La Liga, RFEF and CTA to act as well.

The statement issued by Barcelona read as follows:

“The president of FC Barcelona, Rafael Yuste y Abel, has today sent a formal letter to the presidents of LaLiga, Javier Tebas; the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzan; and the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), Francisco Soto, in relation to the statements made by the president of Real Madrid CF, Florentino Perez, in various public appearances on May 12 and 13.”

“FC Barcelona believes that these statements, in addition to being false, seriously undermine the honour and image of the First Division League competition, as well as the refereeing body as a whole, and damage the reputation and credibility of Spanish professional football.”

Concluding, Barcelona urged the entities to “to urgently adopt, within the scope of their respective competencies, the appropriate associative and judicial measures against Mr. Perez to defend the honour, integrity, and prestige of the institutions they represent and the competitions they organize.”

Real Madrid’s response awaited

This becomes the latest chapter of the escalating war between Real Madrid and Barcelona, with relations between the two institutions at an all-time low.

Having now seen what their arch-rivals had to say, it will be interesting to see what the response from Los Blancos will be.

Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen if La Liga, RFEF, and CTA also get involved in the issue between the two giants of Spanish football.
