Penn State lose out on four star RB to LSU
· Yahoo Sports
The Penn State Nittany Lions have been patiently waiting for commitments to go their way with bated breath. They finally want to break through in-state and prove that Campbell has staying power there as well. However, there are some times where the Nittany Lions may not even care about a certain commitment. Like that of David Segarra. With Segarra's commitment to LSU, while the Nittany Lions have lost an elite four star prospect, they won't brood on it forever.

Segarra would have been a nice addition to a more balanced, yet uncertain running back position group. He ranked 143rd nationally, 7th at his position, and 3rd in his hometown state of South Carolina. Still, when one considers his recruitment path, they can come to terms with him choosing another program. The Nittany Lions were his only top five school where he did not schedule an official visit. It was his visit two weekends ago to LSU's campus that convinced him to commit to the Tigers.
For the Nittany Lions, it's no sweat of their back as they are feeling good about their two RB commits. In Aiden Gibson, they have the 16th ranked back in the nation, while three star Chukwuma Odoh is ranked 57th. Add in the fact that the Nittany Lions could have as many as four returners on the current roster for the 2027 season, and Segarra would have felt more like surplus than a sure thing.
While there are other recruits that the Blue and White will be losing sleep over, Segarra won't be one of them.
