After landing a few recruits already this month, the Tar Heels added another on Saturday. Four-star wide receiver Amare Patterson verbally committed to the Tar Heels, ending his recruitment. It's another big win for Bill Belichick and his staff to get a four-star receiver.

And they beat out some SEC and ACC schools to land him.

Patterson picked North Carolina over offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Georgia Tech and South Carolina in his recruitment.

The Ridgeland, South Carolina native is ranked No. 173 nationally, the No. 25 wide receiver, and No. 5 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports rankings.

He becomes the 16th player to commit to UNC in the 2027 class and is the highest-ranked player in the class for the Tar Heels so far. He was offered by UNC a month ago and visited last weekend. From there, he wasted no time in committing.
