The recent Mid-Pacific graduate and Hawaii High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor inductee placed second in the U20 heptathlon at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Ore., on Friday.

Look’s total score of 5,330 qualifies her for the World U20 Championship in August, according to MPI coach Rick Hendrix.

“I feel amazing,” Look said. “It feels so surreal and I don’t think it’s really hit me yet. I’m feeling so grateful to have such great competition throughout the two days, and feeling extra blessed that I was even able to get the opportunity to come up here and compete. I get to represent Hawaii up here and now I’ll be part of Team USA.”

The meet in Eugene continues this weekend. Look will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, and long and triple jumps.

“It’s been really hot, dry, but overall beautiful weather to run in,” she said. “The 200 and long jump I won in, and usually that doesn’t happen. It was a crazy feeling,” the SMU signee said.

“The shot put and 800 were a little tougher this time around just because I didn’t get to practice that much shot, and the 800 is just always a brutal race. I think I definitely have room for improvement.”
