The Celtics declined Amari Williams' team option on Monday, but that doesn't mean he will be leaving Boston this upcoming season.
NBA insider Michael Scotto from HoopsHype reported that the Celtics and Williams have reached an agreement for him to return to Boston. Celtics writer John Karalis clarified that this will be a two-way deal for Williams.

The Celtics drafted Williams with the 46th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. He appeared in 22 games this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds. Williams is listed at 6-foot-11, and if he can develop in the next few seasons, he could play a more significant role on the Celtics. Boston needs big man help, and Williams could be given a chance to prove himself.
Boston's agreement with Williams was not the only move made on Monday. The Celtics also exercised the team options for Neemias Queta, Jordan Walsh and Dalano Banton.
The Celtics now have good depth on their roster for next season, and their next move could involve trading Jaylen Brown.
