Crazier things have happened in Major League Baseball than teams like the Toronto Blue Jays getting healthier and becoming one of the best teams in the league, as everybody expected them to be. The Blue Jays, at least on paper, are still an elite team, and barring something drastic happening over the next few weeks, should be buyers at the trade deadline.

There doesn't seem to be much of a scenario in which the Blue Jays don't buy at the deadline, at least according to the latest report, which should make all fans happy about a potential exciting trade deadline that doesn't see Toronto sell, but instead buy.

“With a massive payroll and the glow of a World Series run still lingering at Rogers Centre, the Jays would have to plummet out of the race to become sellers ahead of the deadline. Given the current mess that is the AL wild-card race, that’d take a disastrous start to July,” Mitch Bannon of The Athletic wrote.

The one thing the Blue Jays have to watch out for over the next few weeks is the American League Wild Card getting away from them.

As of right now, Toronto is just 3.5 games back in the AL Wild Card, so they still have a lot of time to figure things out. However, if some teams ahead of them were to go on ridiculous runs and that gets to about seven to 10 games, I can see why there would be some questions about buying.

Ultimately, however, I don't expect that to be the case, barring something drastic.
