Jaguars Hunting Season 2026: Houston Texans Live From London

· Yahoo Sports

Nobody plays overseas more than the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the two London games this season could be two of their biggest.

The Jags’ first play in England is Oct. 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are less than two years removed from winning a Super Bowl.

Jacksonville will stay across the pond the following week for a divisional matchup with the Houston Texans.

Although Jacksonville won the AFC South last year, the team that had the deepest postseason run was Houston.

The night after Jacksonville’s first-round loss to the Buffalo Bills, Houston used its elite defense to steamroll the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road, 30-6, for their 10th straight win. Although the Texans’ season ended the next week at the hands of the New England Patriots, a statement had been made: these guys weren’t going anywhere.

Since their dreadful 3-13-1 campaign in 2022 led to the Texans drafting QB C.J. Stroud second overall, the Texans have become one of the more consistently solid teams in the NFL. No, Houston hasn’t gone to a Super Bowl yet or even made a conference championship game, but since 2023, only three teams (the Kansas City Chiefs, Eagles and Bills) have had more playoff wins than Houston, which has made it out of the first round in each of the last three years.

Jacksonville, on the other hand, has just one playoff win since 2018, but did just have its winningest year of the millennium, going 13-4 and beating out Houston (12-5) for the division championship.

One of those five losses was to the Texans, taking place Nov. 9 in Houston. The Jags led 29-10 going into the fourth quarter, putting Houston on the verge of falling to 3-6.

But the Texans then went crazy, scoring 26 straight points to pull out a 36-29 win.

Amazingly, neither team lost a game after that, with both teams combining to go 16-0 the rest of the way.

This year, Houston is favored to take the AFC South over Jacksonville, with defense being the main reason. Houston had arguably the best unit in the NFL last year, giving up 17.4 points per game (fewest in the AFC, second fewest overall) and giving up the fewest total yards per game in the league.

Almost all of that defense is back, which could lead to two challenging days for Trevor Lawrence and the Jags.
