Lakers are signing Arthur Kaluma to two-way contract

The Los Angeles Lakers spent the early part of this month addressing their guard and big man depth by bringing in players such as Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Kevon Looney and Sandro Mamukelashvili. More recently, they have turned their attention to the wing and forward spots.
They officially signed forward Ziaire Williams on Sunday and agreed to a one-year contract with Matisse Thybulle on Monday. Also on Monday, they gave forward Arthur Kaluma a two-way contract after a strong showing during summer league play, per Shams Charania of ESPN.

"The Los Angeles Lakers are signing F Arthur Kaluma to a two-way NBA deal, Todd Ramasar and Mike Simonetta of Life Sports Agency tell ESPN. Kaluma, who spent 2025-26 in Lakers G League program, averaged nearly 19 points, 61% shooting and 50% on 3s in Las Vegas summer league."
Kaluma is going into his second pro season after going undrafted out of the University of Texas a year ago. As the 6-foot-7 forward put up one productive game after another in summer league play this month, Lakers fans clamored for the team to keep him on a two-way contract.
Last season, Kaluma averaged 13.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 24.4 minutes a game while shooting 55.2% from the field and 37.8% from 3-point range during the G League tip-off tournament and regular season combined.
The Lakers now have a number of options at the wing or forward spots, including Kaluma, Williams, Thybulle, rookie Cameron Carr and possibly Adou Thiero. None of them are starting-caliber players, and Kaluma isn't as athletic as Williams, Thybulle, Carr or Thiero, but the team is starting to address its need for serviceable players at that spot.
