You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Or so the saying goes. Well, today is an opportunity for a first impression for newly announced Purdue Athletic Director Tommy McClelland. He landed in West Lafayette yesterday and will officially be introduced as the next man for the job at an introductory press conference today at 11:00 AM. You can follow the press conference live right here:

I’ve already give you a brief overview of what McClelland has done and where he’s been. We’ve also talked about him on two episodes of the Boiler Alert podcast including my live first impressions of him as Ryan broke the news to me in real time. So, what’s left to say at this point? Well, I think I’ll leave it to him to see what he says. There’s a lot for the next AD to work on. How do you gauge success for the football program this season and moving forward? How do you navigate the changing world or paying players, NIL, new scholarship rules, and PERHAPS federal legislation on college sports? What changes, if any, will be made to the top personnel in the department. Now, do I think he’ll talk about personnel today? Absolutely not, but it’s something to keep an eye on as McClelland begins to assume control of the department.

So, let’s welcome him to the Boilermaker family and chat about what we hear in the press conference with our fellow Boilermakers.
