The Los Angeles Clippers are facing massive penalties from the NBA for salary cap circumvention. In a statement, the franchise has announced they will fight the verdict.
The NBA has come down hard on the Los Angeles Clippers at the conclusion of their investigation into the team’s alleged salary cap circumvention to pay Kawhi Leonard via a sponsorship deal with Aspiration.

Owner Steve Ballmer has been fined $30 million, along with a one-year suspension. Team executives Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker will also be suspended. The franchise will forfeit five first-round picks.
These sanctions are set to cause severe problems for the Clippers. Their future will be significantly damaged. As such, the organisation has vowed to fight the verdict.

The Los Angeles Clippers and the team’s top brass have consistently claimed their innocence since the allegations first came to light in 2025.
Even after the league’s verdict, they are not backing down from this position. The team shared a statement, which reiterates their intention to fight the NBA’s decision.
“We vehemently reject the NBA’s findings, which are the result of a heavily biased investigation seeking to justify a predetermined narrative rather than facts and evidence,” the statement reads.
“What the league told us privately differs from what it announced today publicly, and they have not held themselves close to the standard Commissioner Silver set at the start of this investigation to ensure its fairness and accuracy.
“For the past year, we cooperated fully and in good faith and we will now fight just as hard to demonstrate our innocence.
“We intend to vigorously challenge these findings and penalties through every avenue available to us and look forward to an ethical and impartial arbitration process.”
Only time will tell whether any of the Clippers’ protests will yield positive results for the franchise. For the moment, the team’s future looks quite bleak.
