‘College GameDay’ crew loved ‘Bayou Militia’ flyover at LSU
· Yahoo Sports
While college football has technically been back for more than a week now, the season really got started on Saturday morning with the return of “College GameDay.” College football’s most beloved show was on campus at LSU in Week 1. Lainey Wilson kicked off the episode with a live version of the show’s theme song, “Comin’ to Your City,” but was quickly overshadowed by the Louisiana Air National Guard.
The “Bayou Militia” did a flyover as Rece welcome viewers to College GameDay’s 500th episode. As excited as the GameDay crew was to be back to talk about a full day of college football, seeing airplanes flying over their heads made them look and sound like little kids on Christmas morning.

There were audible “oohs” as the planes approached. It sounded like Davis might have been the only one who had a heads up about the stunt because Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit all seemed surprised and delighted.
Howard was literally cackling as the four F-15 Eagles flew over the set. McAfee shook his head and Herbstreit clapped with huge smiles and even Saban looked amused. Everyone was very happy. It was like they were all watching Maverick buzz the tower for the first time, except in this case the tower was the GameDay set.
And everyone was equally impressed by the Bayou Militia’s undefeated record. There’s just no way you can leave them out of the air national guard playoff.
There’s the type of pageantry that usually lends itself to the sport and then there are military flybys. You usually only see that kind of thing at Kid Rock’s house. What a cool way to start the season.
