Buckeye Breakdown: Brooks Austin Previews the Biggest Game of the Year Against Texas

There are storylines galore in Ohio State's week two matchup against the Texas Longhorns. These are two of the best teams in America, and they square off against each other in Austin on Saturday night.

Must Win Game for Both Teams

This is a very unique situation where in week two in this era of college football that these two teams feel like it is a must win game for each of them. Now, it isn't a game where the loser is out of the conversation, but, the loser's road is significantly harder going forward.

Both of these programs got the short end of the stick in their conference scheduling, and they both face two of the toughest regular seasons in football. A win grants a ton of room for error and the benefit of the doubt for a College Football Playoff nod.

The loser, well the loser has to buckle down going forward.

Each offense has two batmans on it. The Buckeyes are led by the best player in the sport, Jeremiah Smith, and the quarterback Julian Sayin. It is similar on the other side. The Longhorns are led by Arch Manning and his top receiver, Cam Coleman.

The winner of this game is going to get a solid performance from someone else. For the Buckeyes, it is Devin McCuin, Bo Jackson, Jakobi Jackson, or even Brandon Inniss who have to step up.

On the other side, Ryan Wingo or Hollywood Smothers has to carry the load if they want to win.

Physicality

One thing the Buckeyes struggled with last year was getting punched in the mouth. Well, this week, they'd better be ready for an all-out war. The Longhorns are as physical as they come. Their skill players on offense are not afraid to bring it, and their secondary on defense plays with their hair on fire. 

The Buckeyes are ready to handle a street fight because the Longhorns are going to bring them into one.

This game on Saturday night has the makings of being one of the all-time greats, and it will go a very long way this year in determining who is in contention at the end of the year.
