Getty ImagesThursday night football is the black sheep of the NFL. More often than not, the game of the week is on Sunday or Monday. Maybe it’s because the NFL can’t flex out of it. Maybe it’s because the schedule makers are idiots. Such is life for the NFL fan.

Truth be told, we’re going watch anyway.
Tomorrow night’s barn burner is Green Bay vs. Atlanta. In the league’s defense, both teams were expected to be better than what they’ve shown thus far. It could have been an attractive matchup. Outside of the respective fan bases, this doesn’t move the needle for the casual fan. Fantasy players and sports bettors have more of an interest as usual. This is a fantasy player’s bonanza though. A lot of guys are rostered. The betting lines are a little (a lot) more interesting to me which is why I write these (and why you read them). Let’s get to it. Like I said, we’re going to watch anyway.

Atlanta vs. Green Bay (-5) (-265 ML)
Over/under 43
Green Bay should be winless. They were boatraced in the fourth quarter against Minnesota in week one and struggled to beat an improving….but still pretty bad Jets team on Sunday. There’s never a so-called “get right” game in the NFL so I won’t label this game as one.
The truth of the matter is Atlanta is much worse than expected. The offense can’t score points (no quarterback) and the defense got shredded by Carolina on Sunday. (Side note: Carolina’s offense may be for real). Micheal Penix gets the start so hopefully he can get the ball into Bijan Robinson’s hands, Drake London’s hands and Kyle Pitts’ hands. He must be an upgrade over Cooper Rush. If not Atlanta will be looking for a quarterback in the draft. They’ll get a good one too.
The play: Take the Packers on the money line. The spread (-5) is a question for me. I expected the line to be closer to -7. I don’t trust it.
Top props
I don’t dive too deeply into player props but a couple jumped out at me. At +160 take Bijan Robinson to rush for 80+ yards and score a touchdown. He’s due after a subpar performance on Sunday.
Take Christian Watson (+150) to score a touchdown. Better yet he’s at +950 to be the first touchdown scorer. Great value bet here.
