Liverpool are currently working on their transfer shortlist for 2027. Maybe some of the players on it can pop up in January - with any luck, one or two will as this squad remains unbalanced.
But for the most part, Liverpool will have to wait until next summer if they're to get the players they want and the prices they like. That's just how modern football works and the majority of the work will go towards that end-of-season window.
New sporting director Julian Ward will be leading the charge on players, though some of the work is already in place for key targets. Lamine Camara fits that bill, a player Anfield Watchunderstands has a big fan in Ward.
But Camara isn't the only one firmly on the agenda already.
Jarell Quansah on the move
Jarell Quansah is an incredibly interesting player for Liverpool. The centre-back was sold to Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 but the Reds retained a buy clause to bring him back.
It’s the subject of an article in Wednesday’s print edition of SportBild. They claim that there’s essentially zero chance of Quansah remaining with Leverkusen beyond this window, such is the interest in him.
Arsenal would love to sign him. They remain interested, even after signing Ezri Konsa, and saw a €65m bid rejected in the summer. The likes of Chelsea would also love Quansah if they can get him.
But Liverpool hold the power here. They have until June 15th to trigger a €65m option to sign Quansah back, with a contract already reportedly agreed on.
It means their Premier League rivals are essentially powerless. Liverpool will get Quansah if they want him - as long as they make their final decision before that deadline passes.
The Reds did have a chance this summer, too. It would have cost them more money but there was a larger clause for a 2026 move, Liverpool just passed on the opportunity.
Next summer, though, Quansah is near-certain to move and likely back to Anfield.
