Things felt different for Drake Maye when he headed to the podium for the postgame press conference after the Patriots’ Week 4 win over the Bills. Instead of dread, it was relief.

Maye entered the game with seven turnovers. He did earn his eighth and ninth this year. However, he did look like the Maye that was second in MVP voting last year against a tough division rival.

The 24-year-old went 22-for-37 with 269 passing yards and three touchdowns. All were season-highs. Maye also ran the ball for 54 yards, leading the team in rushing.

The Patriots are now 2-2 and could win two straight if they beat the Raiders next week. That’s exactly what Maye believes they can do to really prove they are back to being contenders after a 1-2 start.

"I think we definitely got to build off it," Maye said after the game. "This is, it's relieving a little bit, but we've still got some work left out there. I think we left our defense in some bad positions... Just proud the way the guys fought.

"Nobody blinked when they were down the sidelines, and they scored and went up 26-21. We did what we do. Just thankful for those guys… Man, everybody’s stepping up."

Maye did become the first Patriots QB since Tom Brady in 2003 with seven interceptions in their first four games of a season, per ESPN Insights. However, he refused to let that, or a Romeo Doubs drop early in the game, get to him or the team.

What did he do when the Patriots were considered out of the game? He responded by connecting with Efton Chism III on a one-handed catch to give the team the late lead and win.
