Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan had a big night in his first-ever Sunday Night Football primetime game, coming up just short of franchise records.

The game plan going into Sunday night was to get McMillan involved and in a groove early against a really good Detroit Lions team. The Panthers were down two weapons on the outside, with Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette sidelined.

The 2025 offensive Rookie of the Year would start clicking immediately with Bryce Young and finish the night with 14 catches, 192 yards, and 2 touchdowns. McMillan became the second Panthers player to record 175 yards or more receiving while also collecting 2 touchdowns.

Steve Smith Sr. collected 178 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 of the 2011 season against the Arizona Cardinals.

Afterward, McMillan was asked about what the rhythm felt like that he and Bryce Young were in, and he would say "It's a good feeling. Really, in that moment, I just feel the trust from the coordinators. Just making the call for me, getting the ball in my hands, and Bryce [Young] is giving me the opportunity, so just super grateful for sure."

McMillan was also asked if there was a point in the game when he felt like he could have a record-setting night. He said, "Yeah, really, just going into the halftime. Somebody told me that I had 100 [receiving yards] going into halftime, so I'm like, shoot, we're doing something right then. Offense is scoring; offense is flowing."

This season, the Carolina Panthers are 2-2 heading into a bye in Week 5.

So far this season, McMillan is on pace to shatter last year's numbers, when he caught 70 passes for just over 1,000 yards. He sits at 26 catches for 385 yards and 2 touchdowns.
