José Mourinho is preparing to return to the Olimpico, this time as Real Madrid’s coach.
On Wednesday evening, he will return to the stadium that called his name for years, amidst memories, emotions, and a Conference League that no one in Rome has forgotten.
The wait has already begun, and just steps from the Giallorossi stadium, someone has decided to tell the tale in their own way.
It’s Drugi, the Roman street artist, who has dedicated a new work to the Special One. A simple image, yet capable of bringing to mind one of the most beautiful chapters in Roma’s recent history.
In the drawing, Mourinho is crouched, clutching a Roma scarf in one hand. With the other, he holds the scarf of a child dressed entirely in yellow and red, embracing the Conference League trophy. It’s an image that unites the coach, the fans, and the memory of the night in Tirana, when Roma lifted a European trophy for the first time.
The work is completed by the words Drugi posted on social media: “We held hands on the roof of Europe. For one night, we will forget love, but we will never forget who we were.” On Wednesday, Mourinho will be on the other side. But that hand clasped to the child, at least in the hearts of Roma fans, will remain there.
