Nacua finished with eight receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown as the Rams ended their two-game losing streak.
Puka Nacua explains how he is managing his calf injury
Speaking to reporters, Nacua explained how the injury happened and addressed concerns about suffering a recurrence.
“Just trying to run, and deceleration after, guys, it kind of tapped off on the play. I just planted, and just felt something in my lower calf,” he said.
The Rams star also confirmed that the MRI had not revealed anything significant, although he was unsure which specific muscle had been affected.
Nacua admitted that avoiding the fear of reinjury was part of his preparation before facing the Raiders.
“I try to mentally prepare and say that I’m full focus and being able to play in the game and kind of letting some of those worries and fears go,” he explained.
The calf problem comes after Nacua missed two games earlier in the season with a groin injury. He also dealt with a hip issue during training camp and the pre-season.
Despite those setbacks, the receiver remains focused on making himself available for Los Angeles.
“Just trying to figure out how I can best feel out there on Sunday and doing everything I can,” Nacua said.
He also praised the Rams’ training staff for helping him return to action, while highlighting his communication with quarterback Matthew Stafford as an important part of staying prepared despite missing practice repetitions.
The Rams now face the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and Arizona Cardinals before their bye week.
Nacua’s involvement in practice will be worth monitoring as the team looks to manage his workload and keep him available for the coming games. His performance against Las Vegas showed that he can still make an impact, but the Rams will need to balance that production with the importance of protecting his long-term fitness.
