Is JJ Wetherholt on the Opening Day roster?

As of Sunday night, the Cardinals had yet to make a public determination on what's happening with Wetherholt.

With Opening Day at the end of the week, there's not a lot of time left to decide. The fact that Wetherholt hasn't been sent down yet, though, suggests he may indeed make the team.

“I’m not sure," Wetherholt told MLB.com about potentially making the roster. "It’s in God’s hands. I have to continue to go out competing, practicing, playing hard every day and being myself, and roll with whatever.”

In Spring Training action, Wetherholt has batted just .214 but does have eight walks to give him a .405 on-base percentage, and he has also driven in six runs.

In the Spring Breakout showcase, Wetherholt went 2-for-3 with a walk.

The Cardinals may not believe they're true contenders this season, and that could leave them to keep Wetherholt down to manipulate his service time.

But right now, there's certainly an excitement around Wetherholt. It'd be fun to see him make the team to open the season.
