Louis Saha has added his voice to the growing support for Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or case, arguing that the Bayern Munich striker has done enough to claim the individual prize ahead of several of the other leading candidates.

Saha, a former France international striker, played for Fulham, Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur during a Premier League career that included two league titles and a Champions League triumph with Manchester United. He earned 20 caps for France and was part of the squad that reached the 2006 World Cup final.
Speaking about this year’s award, Saha believes Kane’s combination of goals, performances and team success puts him in a strong position.
“Harry Kane has done enough this year to win the Ballon d’Or, for me. He deserves the Ballon d’Or more than Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé or even Michael Olise,” Saha told Betano. “It’s between Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane this year and they’ve both got the trophies and great performances on both sides but you look at the number of goals that Kane has scored, and even though he didn’t win with England at the World Cup, I don’t think that was his fault. He’s done everything on a personal level within his power to deserve the Ballon d’Or.
“I think Kylian Mbappé’s critics will stop him from winning the Ballon d’Or because people do not understand him. Maybe it’s because of his interviews, the way he presents himself, that Mbappé will not win it. I love him as a character and his personality and his confidence but for the voters of the Ballon d’Or I don’t think any of that helps him.
Kane’s statistical case is certainly substantial. He scored 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern Munich last season and added six goals at the 2026 World Cup. He is among the 30 nominees for the award, with the winner set to be announced October 26th.
