Can fantasy owners trust any Dolphins RB to replace De'Von Achane?

The Miami Dolphins got horrendous news on Monday, as tests confirmed that running back De'Von Achane tore his ACL on an 11-yard run just five offensive plays into their Week 3 battle with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Achane has been one of the best running backs in the league since Miami took him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In 47 games over four years, he's rushed for 3,184 yards and 22 touchdowns on 5.5 yards per carry while adding another 1,326 yards and 13 scores on 179 receptions.
That kind of dual-threat ability made him a top option for owners in fantasy football in recent years. In 2026, Achane was a first-round selection for many, as he went somewhere between Nos. 9 and 17 in most draft.
Now, with Achane out, fantasy owners will be scrambling to find who, if anyone will fill his shoes in the Dolphins' backfield. Right now, there are two options.
Jaylen Wright was Miami's fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft following a collegiate career at Tennessee, where he earned All-SEC honors once. Over the last two years, he's rushed for 537 yards and two touchdowns on 3.9 yards per attempt. While he doesn't offer the same pass-catching ability that Achane did, he does have his speed, as Wright ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the Combine.
Ollie Gordon II is the other option. The 22-year-old earned All-American honors once and led the NCAA in rushing yards once during his stint at Oklahoma State. Miami took him int he sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. After rushing for 199 yards and three touchdowns on 2.8 yards per attempt as a rookie, he's rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown on 2.4 yards per attempt this year.
Of the two, Wright is probably the top option to replace Achane, considering his potential to be a game-changing weapon with his speed. However, it's more likely that the two backs will split the load, making it tougher for owners to rely on one of them to be a productive fantasy starter, at least early on.
