Facing Tech’s Emma Mazzarone, the Seminoles had Jaysoni Beachum walked, and was able to stand on third after a wild pitch. With two outs, Mazzarone got a strikeout to strand Beachum.

2nd Inning

A 1-2-3 inning from Francik lead to a lead off walk to Bella Ruggiero in the bottom of the inning. With a runner on base, extra bases from Kennedy Harp tied the game.

Now a new ballgame, Harp stood on third and with Mazzarone still struggling to find the zone, a wild pitch allowed the leading run to score. Two walks with two outs, but a soft line drive ended the inning before the Seminoles could score.

5th Inning

Francik secured the first two outs of the inning, including one strikeout, before being lifted for Ashtyn Danley. The junior got the last out of the inning, giving the ball back to VT’s new pitcher, Avery Layton.

In the bottom of the inning, the only hit for the ‘Noles was a two out double from Anna Hinde.

6th Inning

Danley issued a lead off walk, who reached third on a stolen base and ground ball. A walk had runners on the corners with two outs, and the move was made to go back to Francik. A full count walk was issued to load the bases full of Hokies. A soft line drive was hit to Torres, getting the ‘Noles out of the jam.

Layton made quick work of the FSU lineup, retiring the side to send the game to the seventh inning.

7th Inning

Now three outs away from another ACC Tournament title, Francik had herself a lead off ground ball out. A pop up and ground ball did not allow VT to give themselves a chance as FSU clinched a 2-1 victory, and the ACC Tournament title.
